Roberto Fabelo (Camaguey, 1950)

Roberto Fabelo is one of Cuba's finest artists. A master of drawing, painting, watercolor, engraving and installation. Using portraits and grotesque figures and scenery to create works which dance the line between fantasy and reality. In 2004 he was awarded the Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas, Cuba's top award in fine arts.

Fabelo studied at the Superior Art Institute of Havana. His artwork is part of the collection of the National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba, Casa de Las Américas, Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center, Modern Art Museum of Nueva Delhi, India, Nordilland Kunst Museum, Dinamarca, Museo de Arte Moderno, México, Museo Universitario del Chopo, México, MOLA, Los Ángeles, USA and Harn Museum, USA.
