Gilberto Frometa Fernandez (Havana, 1946)

 

Draftsman, painter, engraver and designer. He studied Commercial Art at The Continental School, U.S.A., 1958-1960. In Cuba he graduated from the National School of Art in 1970 and from the Higher Institute of Art in 1984. A master of drawing, engraving and painting, Frómeta is among the Cuban plastic artists of national and international renown.

He has presented more than thirty solo shows in Cuba, Venezuela, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Spain, Portugal, France and several Asian countries. 

In 1996 the Culture Ministry of Cuba awarded him with the National Culture Distinction.
